The ELL Department within the Saint Paul Public Schools

This page is intended to provide an overview of where ELL fits within the organizational structure of the Saint Paul Public Schools.

Office of Academics

The ELL Department is part of the Office of Academics. This office serves as an umbrella for the district’s birth to adult education services.

The office is comprised of eight departments/programs and four executive directors of education (two elementary, one middle grades, and one high school)

These four executive directors are responsible for providing direction, curriculum, and instructional support to 50 elementary schools of which two are K-8 schools, eight middle schools, seven high schools, and one K-12 school.

The eight departments/programs provide complementary and supplemental educational services to schools. These departments/programs include:

English Language Learners Department

The ELL Department provides service at all sites within SPPS.  We have approximately 250 licensed ELL Teachers and 105 Bilingual Educational Assistants that work with ELL students.

Collaboration - Working with other Departments

The ELL Department works very closely with a variety of other departments to complete our work.  We are very fortunate to receive strong support from other areas that support our success.  We couldn't do what we do without their efforts!
